Houston Diving Announces Pair of Signees

HOUSTON, TX (June 17, 2007) ­ University of Houston diving head coach Jane Figueiredo announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.

Lacey Truelove and Courtney Forcucci join a talented diving corps for the 2007-08 season and will be eligible to compete as freshmen.

Truelove joins the UH program after competing at HB Beal in London, Ontario during her prep career. She won the gold medal at the 2005 Camp International Meet and earned the bronze medal at the 2005 Canada Summer
Games.

A talented student-athlete, Truelove also received the Vivian Sturdee Art Award in 2005 and 2006 and was a regular member of the Honor Roll.

Forcucci enters the Cougar program after an award-winning career as a member of the South Carolina Divers club team. During her tenure with that squad, she was a four-time National qualifier and three-time National finalist.

Forcucci was a six-time East National qualifier and three-time qualifier for the Canada-US Challenge. The Fort Mill, S.C., native won the 3-meter springboard championship during the 2002 Canada-US Challenge and was a Junior Worlds Trial Qualifier in 2003.

Both divers join a program featuring some of the nation¹s best collegiate divers. Anastasia Pozdniakova and Ginni van Katwijk both qualified for and earned All-America honors at the 2007 NCAA Championships with Pozdniakova finishing as the national runner-up on the 3-meter springboard.

All four divers will work under the tutelage of Figueiredo, who enters her 18th season as the diving head coach in 2007-08. One of the nation¹s most respected diving coaches, she has led 23 divers to the NCAA Championships with 10 earning a combined 35 All-America accolades.
