Frogs Earn National and Regional Rankings

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (January 6, 2009) The TCU women's tennis team earned a No. 25 ranking in the season's first Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll released on Tuesday. Two Frogs appeared in the national singles rankings, along with a pair
of doubles squads. All eight Frogs were also listed on the ITA Regional rankings.

Junior Nina Munch-Soegaard earned a singles ranking of No. 12 after leading the
team in the fall with a 13-5 record. Munch-Soegaard won 12-straight matches,
including a six-match stretch where the Amarillo, Texas product claimed
Wilson/ITA Southwest Regional Singles Championship and advanced to the
semifinals at the ITA National Indoor Championships. Munch-Soegaard was also
named as the top singles player in the Southwest region.

Despite not being ranked in the preseason rankings before the fall semester,
senior Macall Harkins claimed a singles ranking of No. 49. The Palos Verdes,
Calif., took down four ranked opponents during the fall season. Harkins will
begin the spring schedule ranked fifth in the Southwest Region.

Harkins also joins doubles teammate, Anna Sydorska, in the doubles rankings,
beginning the year ranked No. 16 by ITA. TCU's top doubles tandem advanced to
the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regional doubles finals, as well as the semifinals of
the ITA National Indoor Championships. The pairing also landed as the
third-ranked doubles team in the region, behind squads from LSU and Baylor.

The doubles duo of Munch-Soegaard and sophomore Maria Babanova garnered a No. 28
national ranking and a No. 6 regional ranking after posting a 8-3 record in the
fall. The Frog pair advanced to the semifinals of the Wilson/ITA Southwest
Regional Championship and claimed a perfect 10-0 record as a pairing last
spring.

Other Frogs included in the regional rankings include freshman Kayla Duncan (No.
18), Sydorska (No. 22), sophomore Katariina Tuohimaa (No. 26) and newcomer Gaby
Mastromarino (No. 28). Sophomore Idunn Hertzberg joined Tuohimaa on the doubles
regional rankings at No. 11, alongside Duncan and Mastromarino at No. 14.

The Frogs will open the 2008 season against No. 41 Virginia in Charlottesville,
Va., on Jan. 24 at 12 p.m.
