Texas State’s Tyler Sibley Named Second-Team Freshman All-American by Baseball America

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS (July 1, 2009)Texas State freshman outfielder Tyler Sibley has been named a Second-Team Freshman All-American by Baseball America after helping the Bobcats win their first outright Southland Conference championship and earn a NCAA Tournament berth in 2009.

This marks the second time this season that Sibley has been selected as a Freshman All-American after he set a Texas State and Southland Conference single season record for most runs scored in a single season with 77. He broke the old school record of 66 that was set by Thomas Field in 2008, while the previous SLC record was held by Ben Broussard of McNeese State in 1999.

A native of Frisco, Texas, Sibley also earned All-Southland Conference Second Team honors after finishing the 2009 campaign with a .367 batting average, 10 home runs and 38 RBI’s. He also hit for 13 doubles and stole 14 bases for the Bobcats.
