LEAGUE CITY, TX, (June 17, 2007)-The Toros announced the signing of four new players to their roster with the addition of two hurlers, an infielder and an outfielder.
Hunter Lehrman, RHP, from Pearland and Brian Fulcher, RHP, from Wilmington, Delaware, were added to the Toros pitching staff to help shore up the starting and relief staffs. "We are very excited about Hunter and Brian joining our club," said General Manager Mike Pede. "Hunter gives us a great armed starter and Brian has great stuff and will really help our pen. "
The Toros also added Brett Crossland from the College of the Southwest and Hobbs, New Mexico to play first base and outfielder Drew Caraway from Angelo State. "Drew has great speed and a prescence on the field and Brett can flat out hit the ball and we are looking forward to both guys helping our club get things started and put some pressure on our opponents pitching," Pede says. "We really feel like we have made some great strides in getting this club going in the right direction. "
In keeping with Continental Baseball League rules on player roster size, the Toros released catcher Wayne Stuart and pitcher Jeremiah Gowey to make room for the new signees. " I need to say that Wayne is an outstanding young man and player and we really liked his ability and work ethic and really hated to move him, but there were things we had to do and he was a casualty of the numbers game of minor league baseball," Pede added. "Anyone looking for a quality catcher and a righthander with good upside should give these guys a shot and we will try to help them get with another club if we can."
