HILLMAN NAMED PRAIRIE VIEW MEN'S BAKETBALL ASSISTANT COACH

PRAIRIE VIEW, TEXAS (July 18, 2008) The Prairie View A&M Athletics department has announced the hiring of Jethro Hillman as an assistant coach with the Panthers basketball team.

Hillman (pictured left) makes his way to “The Hill” after serving stints at Delaware State, Texas Southern and Nicholls State of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, the Southwestern Athletic Conference and the Southland Conference respectively.

"Coach Rimm has the Prairie View A&M Men's basketball program headed in the right direction,” said Hillman. “I am excited and honored to be added on as an assistant coach at Prairie View A&M."

Hillman joins Talvin Hester as the Panthers second full time assistant coach on staff. With the addition of Hillman head coach Byron Rimm feels his program will have the necessary tools needed to reach the next level.

“As a coaching staff we’re very pleased to be able to add an assistant coach of the caliber of Jethro Hillman,” said Rimm. “Coach Hillman is a proven winner and he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program. With him on staff we will be able to broaden our recruiting efforts as well as our monitoring of our student-athletes on and off the court.”

This upcoming season the Prairie View A&M Panthers will look to improve on last season’s 6-12 conference mark. Last season PVAMU finished SWAC regular season play one win shy of clinching the programs first SWAC tournament birth since 2003.
