HOUSTON, TEXAS (March 8, 2010) Leading the University of Houston to a 1-0 win over No. 3 Texas at the Houston College Classic, sophomore pitcher Michael Goodnight was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week.
The Houston native went seven innings against the Longhorns, giving up two hits with nine strikeouts and four walks.
The win gave Goodnight the first shutout of his career.
For his performance, Goodnight was also named to the Houston College Classic All-Tournament Team.
Houston recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 1998, following a defeat of Missouri on Friday.
Houston will next hit the road for a three-game series against Cal Poly on March 12-14.
