HOUSTON, TEXAS (September 8, 2010) Prairie View A&M linebacker Marcus White was selected by the Southwestern Athletic Conference as its Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Texas Southern on Sunday.
Playing in his first-ever collegiate game, the redshirt freshman from Houston (Jones HS) broke a 7-7 tie in the third quarter after picking off a TSU pass and racing 72 yards untouched for his first career touchdown. White also logged a game-high 13 tackles and defended one pass.
In addition to White’s honors, senior punter Pedro Ventura was also recognized by the SWAC with a notable performance during the 26th annual State Farm Labor Day Classic.
The Panthers travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. this weekend to square off against Southern Mississippi at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
