KOENIGSSEE, GERMANY (January
14, 2019) Texan Justin Olsen (shown right), along with teammates Blaine McConnell, Adrian
Adams, and Kyle Wilcox, combined
to place 18th in the four-man bobsled World Cup race on Sunday, January
13. On their first run. the foursome pushed off the start in 4.94 seconds with
Olsen piloting the USA No. 2 sled to the finish in 49.66 seconds for 15th
place. After a start time of 4.98 seconds in run two, they posted a run time of
49.75 seconds. Olsen, McConnell, Adams and Wilcox fell back three spots to
finish 18th with a two-run total of 1:39.41.
Olsen, a member of three
Olympic squads (2010, 2014, 2018), won the gold medal, with pilot Steve Holcomb,
in the four-man bobsled in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. In the
2014 Games in Sochi, he placed 14tn in the four-man event with pilot Nick
Cunningham. In PyeongChang (2018), the San Antonio native, placed 14th
in the two-man event and 20th in the four-man event.
The World Cup moves to
Igls, Austria for the fifth stop of the tour. The circuit will make one more
stop in Europe after Igls before transitioning to North America.
