HOUSTON, TEXAS (November 1, 2026)  Goalkeeper Jane Campbell made seven saves for the Houston Dash in a 2-0 loss to Portland Thorns FC on Sunday at Shell Energy Stadium.  Her work helped keep Houston close, and she finished the season with 127 saves, a new league record.

Campbell was busy early. In the 11th minute, she stopped a shot from Caiya Hanks. Moments later, she denied Sophia Wilson’s shot from outside the box. Portland scored in the 34th minute, but Campbell kept the Dash within one goal before halftime. She punched away a dangerous ball in the 38th minute and made another save two minutes later.

Campbell stated in the post-match press conference:

"First, I just want to say a big thank you to everyone here at this organization, if you wear this crest. We, the players, often don't see about 90 percent of this organization in person, so to the front office staff, everyone at headquarters, marketing, community relations, you name it.

I just want to say, on behalf of the team and everyone who works on the field, we just want to say thank you for all your hard work. To all the people here at the stadium, the security and mediam just a big thank you on behalf of us for all your hard work, and we're excited for next year.

I think, throughout the season we made really big strides, and we're such a young group, and I'm really excited for next year and for the people returning. I think the majority of the team is returning, which is exciting. So, I'm really just proud of the group, and hopefully everyone rests up and gets healthy and comes back next year ready to roll."

The biggest test came in the 61st minute. Portland earned a penalty, and Wilson took the shot. Campbell saved her first attempt. After a video review, officials ordered the kick to be taken again because a Dash player had moved into the box too soon. Wilson scored on the second try to make it 2-0.

Houston created chances of its own. Miljana Ivanović put an early shot on target, and Sophie Schmidt had a chance in the 32nd minute. Portland goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold made five saves to stop the Dash from scoring. Campbell’s saves gave Houston a chance to stay in the game, but the team could not find a goal.

The Dash ended the regular season with a 9-15-6 record. Interim coach Jaime Frias finished 2-3-1 over his final six games. The team said it will share a roster update later this month. Angela Hucles Mangano, the team’s president of women’s soccer, will share more updates on the coaching search.
