H20 Frogs Raising Awareness with "SWIM QUICK"

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (February14, 2009) The TCU men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be raising awareness and collecting donations for the "SWIM QUICK" For a Cure to Cancer, in honor of Auburn head swimming coach, Richard Quick Saturday.

"I have known Richard for close to 30 years and he is one of the most respected coaches in the swimming profession," TCU head coach Richard Sybesma said. "Tomorrow before practice, we will have a moment of silence to recognize Richard's recovery from brain cancer as well as to all who have suffered from some form of cancer."

Quick, one of America's most respected and decorated swimming coaches, has been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. In the world of swimming, he has "done it all" - coached six US Olympic swimming teams, led his collegiate teams to 12 NCAA titles, inspired every swimmer he has coached, and led the swimming community with respect and integrity. The Quick family has teamed up with Swim Across America in an attempt to combat this disease and raise money towards finding a cure. The swimming community is now tasked with joining forces with Richard as he faces this newest challenge in his life.

WHAT IS SWIM QUICK?
Many people in the swimming community have asked what they can do to help Richard during these difficult days. "Swim Quick" is a fundraising program developed by Swim Across America to answer this question and it provides a tangible way for everyone to support Quick and all those affected by cancer.

The Frogs will be swimming for donations for the Swim Across America foundation. Fans interested in making donations may stop by the pool in the University Recreation Center for the squad's practice between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. or check out the official "SWIM QUICK" donation Web site.
