Pasadena faces tough opponents on Day 2 of Jason Landers Volleyball Tournament

AUSTIN, TEXAS (August 14, 2026)  The Pasadena High School volleyball team went into Day 2 of the Jason Landers tournament with a 2-1 record from Day 1 and were looking to improve their overall tournament record with their three scheduled matches. The Lady Eagles ran into two tough opponents but were able to mount a comeback in the final match of the day.

Against their first opponent on Friday, they faced a tough Brownsville Rivera squad, who posted  a 2-0 record on Thursday.  In the first game, the Lady Eagles kept it close with a  23-25 score. However, they fell behind quickly in the second game; posting a 6-25 score to drop the match 2-0. Their next match saw Pasadena facing the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament, San Antonio Churchill. The Lady Eagles played hard, but could not overcome the Chargers; falling the two games, 13-25, 12-25.

In Pasadena’s third match of the day, they played a hard-fought match; coming away with a 2-1 win; 21-25, 26-15, 25-20, finishing the day with a 1-2 record. 

Moving on to Saturday, the Lady Eagles will play Texas School for the Deaf at Austin High School with an 11 a.m. start. At the conclusion of that match, they will face either Del Valle (2-4) or Manor New Technology (2-4).

Pasadena Eagles post 2-1 record after Day 1 of Jason Landers Volleyball Tournament

AUSTIN, TEXAS (August 13, 2026) After defeating Baytown Lee in straight sets (25-8, 25-7, 25-6) on Tuesday night, the Pasadena High School varsity volleyball team headed to Austin to compete in the Jason Landers Volleyball Tournament, hosted by Austin ISD. The Lady Eagles, who placed 5th in last year’s tournament, were seeded in Pool 4 for Thursday’s matches.

In their first contest of the tournament, Pasadena faced off against Austin LASA at Bowie High School. LASA, who placed 30th in last year’s tourney (3-5), fought a good fight against the Eagles, with Pasadena taking the match 25-22, 25-23.

Their second match in Austin, Pasadena took on Austin Travis High School, who placed 35th in the 2025 tournament with a 1-7 record. The Lady Eagles had no problem with the Lady Rebels, downing them 25-9, 25-14.

In the night cap match, Pasadena took on a stubborn Fort Bend Elkins squad, who was the 19th place team in 2025. After battling back-and-forth with the lead changing many times, the Lady Eagles dropped a 2-0 decision (16-25, 26-28) to Elkins.

After Day 1 of the tourney, Pasadena stands at 2-1, with a 3-1 record for the season. On Friday, they will take on Brownsville Rivera ECHS (2-0)  at 11 a.m., followed by San Antonio Churchill (3-0) at 12 noon. The Lady Eagles will face San Antonio Marshall (2-1) in their final match of the day, with first serve scheduled at 2 p.m. All three matches on Friday will be at Austin Bowie High School.

Pasadena Volleyball places 6th overall at Jason Lander Invitational

AUSTIN, TEXAS (August 16, 2025) Playing their final three matches on Saturday at the Jason Lander Invitational, the Pasadena High School volleyball team went 1-2 in the finals of the Gold Bracket to secure their 6th place team finished in the 36-team field. The Gold Bracket was made up of the top eight teams, based on the won-lost record of Thursday and Friday's games of the 36-team field.

The Lady Eagles came into the finals seeded sixth; facing top-ranked Austin High School in the 9 a.m. match. The Maroons topped Pasadena 25-13, 25-18. After the loss, the Eagle volleyballers took on Trinity High School at 11 a.m. and quickly dispatched their opponent 25-23, 25-20.

In their final match, at 1 p.m. Pasadena took on Gatesville High School, with the match going to three games. The Hornets won the first game 25-23. The Lady Eagles bounced back in the second game with the score of 25-22. In the rubber game of the match; the battle was a back and fourth affair, with the Hornets taking the third game 25-22.

The Lady Eagles' sixth place finish was their best performance dating back to 2019. In that year, they placed 41st out of 47 teams. In 2022, they were 17th in the 32-team field. 2023 saw the Lady Eagles place 12th out of the 41 teams. Last year (2024), they finished 13 out of 35 teams.  

Pasadena will next hit the road for  a Tuesday, August 19 matchup against Angleton, with a 6:30 p.m. start for the varsity; preceded at 4:30 p.m. with the freshmen match and a 5:30 p.m. start for the junior varsity.

Pasadena Eagles post 3-0 record in Day One of Jason Lander Volleyball Invitational

AUSTIN, TEXAS (August 14, 2025)  Pasadena High School when into the first round of the Austin ISD Jason Lander Invitational Volleyball Tournament with a 1-0 record after defeating Galveston Ball 3-1 on Tuesday. After their matches on Thursday, they increased their 2025 season record to 4-0 after downing all three of their opponents. 

In their first match, they posted a 2-0 win (25-6, 25-15) over Austin Travis. The Lady Eagles followed with two 2-1 victories over El Paso  (25-18, 17-25, 29-27) and L.D. Bell (19-25, 25-18, 25-16). Pasadena placed first in Group 5 play.

As a results of their Thursday success, the Lady Eagles advanced to Day 2 play on Friday and are slated play Austin LBJ ECHS at 11 a.m. They will follow with a 1 p.m. match against SA Jefferson; closing the day with a 3 p.m. showdown with Vista Ridge.

Austin LBJ ECHS posted finished second in Group 4 with a 3-0 record. Jefferson also placed second in Group 2 with a 3-0 record, while Vista Ridge went 3-0, for a first-place finish in Group 6.

All Friday games will be played at Austin ISD's Burger Center.

Pasadena Volleyball advances to Silver Bracket of Austin ISD Jason Landers Tourney

AUSTIN, TEXAS (August 16, 2024) Going into day 2 of pool play at the Austin ISD Jason Landers Volleyball Tournament, the Pasadena Eagles were looking to build on their success in day 1 and improved their overall record. The Lady Eagles went up against three tough teams; posting a 1-2 records on Friday.

First up was a match against Juan Navarro (Austin) High School, which saw Pasadena down the Vikings in straight sets 25-7, 25-11. After a short rest, they took to the court, playing their fifth match in 27 hours, faced off against San Antonio Stephens. The Pasadena volleyballers took the match to three sets. They won the first set against the Vikings, 25-20. then dropped the final two sets of the match, 19-25, 18-25; dropping their tournament record to 4-1. 

In the final game of the day, the Lady Eagles took to the court to play the Austin High School Maroons, on the Maroons home court. The supportive Maroons' fans did not distract the Eagles, however the close and evenly matched teams battled back and forth, with the Lady Eagles coming up short 15-25, 17-25.

After two days of play, Pasadena posted a 4-2 record and as a result, will play in the Silver Bracket facing Trinity High School at 9 a.m. CDT at Austin High School on Championship Saturday.

Pasadena Lady Eagles sweep day one of Austin ISD Jason Landers Tournament

AUSTIN, TEXAS (August 15, 2024) After winning their first match of the season against Galveston Ball on Tuesday evening (August 13), the Pasadena High School varsity volleyball team hit the road to compete in the Austin ISD Jason Landers Volleyball Tournament. The tournament, which is one of the most prestigious high school tournaments in Texas, features the top teams from around the state of Texas. The Lady Eagles entered the first day of the three-day tournament with a 1-0 season record. after downing Galveston Ball in five sets (19-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-14, 15-12) on Tuesday.

Playing their Day 1 matches at Austin's Atkins High School gym, Pasadena took the match to three sets against the Waco University Trojans, winning the match two sets to one (25-15, 22-25, 25-22)  in Group 8 of pool play. The win pushed their season record to 2-0 and 1-0 in the tournament. After about one and one-half hour break, which saw El Paso Andress down the Trojans 25-19 and 25-14 the Lady Eagles took on Andress in their last match of the day.

They quickly dispatched the Golden Eagles in straight sets, 25-18, 25-23 to win the match and post a 2-0 record for the tournament and therefore placing at the top of group play.

Day two (Friday) will see the PHS volleyballers facing the Texas School for the Deaf (1-2) at 11 a.m., followed by a 1 p.m. match against Sam Antonio Stephens (2-1). In their final match of the day, they will face Austin High School (3-0) at 3 p.m. All Friday games will be played at Austin High School.
