BAY AREA TOROS ANNOUNCE “VETERANS NIGHT”

TEXAS CITY, TEXAS (August 10, 2008) As the 2008 baseball regular season draws to a close, the Bay Area Toros of the Continental Baseball League and the City of Texas City announce “Veterans Night”, a special event honoring American Soldiers at Robinson Stadium in Texas City, TX on the evening of Saturday August 16th.

Fans will receive a complimentary Toros Team Trading Pin designed to honor our soldiers courtesy of the City of Texas City.

This event will honor all veterans, with a special recognition ceremony for those who have been wounded in action and for the families who have lost a loved one in the Iraq/Afghanistan crisis that reside in Galveston County. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Project and charitable organizations that aid families of soldiers killed in action.

Participants will include families and personnel of all branches of the military, Galveston County municipalities, church groups, and non-profit & charitable organizations.

In addition to the baseball game featuring the Bay Area Toros and Corpus Christi Beach Dawgs, “Veterans Night” will include games and activities for children, door prizes, raffles, a Color Guard presentation, and entertainment consisting of bagpipers, a live band, and mascots.

Fans are encouraged to meet and take photos with the Toros players after the game.
