TCU WOMEN'S TENNIS PREPARES FOR WAKE FOREST

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (March 5, 2008) The No. 22 TCU women’s tennis team will begin the first of four consecutive road contests on Thursday at 2 p.m. against No. 37 Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Horned Frogs are currently 5-3 this season, while the Demon Deacons are 3-4 overall.

TCU climbed nine spots to No. 22 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released on Tuesday, after two wins over No. 62 SMU and No. 73 Texas Tech, and a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to No. 15 Fresno State.

Junior Anna Sydorska emerged back in the singles rankings at No. 67 nationally, while Nina Munch-Soegaard also re-entered the rankings at No. 87. Sydorska is
currently 6-2 this season, while Munch-Soegaard is 5-3 at the top singles position, including an upset win over No. 11 Melanie Gloria of Fresno State on Monday.

The TCU doubles duo of Sydorska and Macall Harkins is ranked No. 14 nationally, as the tandem holds a 6-1 record. The Horned Frog duo dropped their first match of the season on Monday to the nation’s top-ranked duo from Fresno State.

Wake Forest is recently coming off of losses at No. 25 Texas A&M and No. 4 Baylor. The Demon Deacon doubles tandem of Alexandra Hirsch and Sasha Kulikova will enter Thursday’s contest ranked No. 27.

The two teams will meet each other for the first time since the 1994 season, where Wake Forest defeated TCU by a score of 6-0 in Winston-Salem. TCU holds the 2-1 advantage in the series that dates back to 1989.
