TCU'S BRINK AND COTET APPEAR IN FINAL RANKINGS

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (June 5, 2008) Senior Cosmin Cotet earned the highest ranking for a TCU men’s tennis player since 2001 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings (ITA), while Cotet and Kriegler Brink also ended the season ranked nationally in doubles play.

Cotet, a native of Iasi, Romania, earned a final national singles ranking of No. 30 and a South Central regional ranking of No. 6 after posting an overall record of 26-9 and a dual-match mark of 21-6 at the top position. The ranking was the highest for a TCU men’s tennis player since three-time All-American Esteban Carril finished 11th in 2001. Cotet defeated 14 ranked opponents during the 2007-08 season, and was named the Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Year. Cotet also earned a No. 93 final singles ranking after the 2007 season.

Cotet and Brink garnered a final doubles ranking of No. 53 and a regional ranking of No. 7 after earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The Frog duo went 16-7 overall this season and 14-6 in dual play at the top spot. Brink and Cotet ended the 2007 season with a national ranking of No. 44.

Brink also finished the season ranked No. 19 in singles play in the South Central region. Brink had a stellar junior season, leading the team with an overall mark of 32-7 and a spring record of 23-3. Brink’s single-season winning percentage of .821 ranks fifth all-time in TCU history.

With the final rankings, a TCU player has now ended the season in the polls for 30 consecutive years.
