Ivan Rodriguez All-Time leader in games caught behind the plate.

This past Tuesday night Ivan Rodriguez tied a Major League Baseball record for starts behind the plate at 2,226. Wednesday a new record will bare the name of "The Greatest Catcher Ever Known".

Into The Record Books

Coming to the Astros in late spring, Ivan Rodriguez began his quest for unsurpassed greatness behind the plate. In games caught Rodriguez after this week will be second-to-none.

The ledgers will read # 2 Carlton Fisk, 2,226 games caught, Ivan Rodriguez 2,227 and counting.

All time leader in hits Ivan Rodriguez 2,649 and counting as a catcher.
An All Star at 20 Rodriguez became a Golden Glove recipient.

What’s next for Ivan Rodriguez? Answer: The Hall of Fame.


Ivan Rodriguez has been in baseball since he was 17 years old, and has caught for pitchers like Nolan Ryan, when Ivan was on the Rangers. Puerto Rico native, Rodriguez makes his home in Miami, Fl.

Rodriguez is an 18 year veteran with a 301 career batting average. Rodriguez has been to the “Big Show”, twice and postseason play five times.

Rodriguez leads all Puerto Rican-born players with 524+ career doubles.
