Sugar Land takes final game of series against Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT (August 4, 2016) The Sugar Land Skeeters defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish by the score of 5-3 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Thursday, August 4, 2016. The win pushed their record to 17-11 in the second half and 52-46 for the season. Sugar Land posted four runs in the first inning and added a single run in the fifth. Bridgeport tallied one run in the third and added two addition runs in the eighth.


Designated hitter Travis Scott continued his domination at the plate, connecting for three hits on five at-bats, while scoring two runs. Center fielder Rene Tosoni was three-for-five with one run. Skeeter starter Jake Hale, pitching 6.2 innings received the win; taking his record to 4-2. The right-hander gave up four hits, one earned run and struck out three. Left hander Derrick Loop, pitching one inning in relief, received his 23rd save of the season. Bluefish starter Ross Seaton, who was signed by the Bridgeport earlier in the day, competed four innings and received the loss in his Bluefish debut. The right-handed pitcher gave up four runs, three of them earned, off six hits and posted 6.75 ERA.

The Skeeters will return to Sugar Land, Texas for a short three-game series against the Somerset Patriots on August 5-7, 2016. They will follow up the home stand with a six game road trip against the Bridgeport Bluefish (August 9-11) and the New Britain Bees (August 11-13).
