Houston downs USF in final game at Hofheinz Pavilion

HOUSTON, TEXAS (March 5, 2017)  Ron Gray chipped in 24 points to give the Houston Cougars a 73-51 win over the East Carolina Pirates and secure the No. 3 seed for the American Athletic Conference basketball tournament. The win closed out the regular season for both teams was the final game inside Hofheinz Pavilion. Beginning this week, a total renovation of the facility will begin with a scheduled completion date in time for the 2018-2019 season.

Before the game, the Cougars honored their five senior players, center Kyle Meyer, guard Damyean Dotson, center Bertrand Nkali, forward Xavier Dupree and forward Danrad Knowles and their families at the center of the Guy V. Lewis Court. The Cougars will face the winner of the UConn and USF game. The No. 6 Huskies and the No. 11 Bulls will play on Thursday, March 9, with a 9 p.m. EST tipoff.
