Houston Dash sign defender Annika Schmidt

HOUSTON, TEXAS (January 4, 2021) The Houston Dash have announced the signing of defender Annika Schmidt to a one-year contract through 2021, with an option to extend said contract through 2022. The Zionsville, Indiana native spend the 2020 season with Göteborg FC in Sweden. 

Prior to her time in Sweden, the Zionsville, Indiana native played collegiately at Butler University and the University of Connecticut. She was a three-time All-Big East first-team selection while starting 53 of 57 career appearances for the Bulldogs; scoring five goals with two assists.

Before playing at Butler, she spent her freshman year (2016-2017) at the University of Connecticut where she made 15 appearances for the Huskies; scoring one goal. 

Schmidt will join Allysha Chapman, Megan Oyster, All Prisock, and Katie Naughton as defenders for the Dash.
