HOUSTON, TEXAS (June 4, 2008) The University of Houston Athletics Department has launched acampaign seeking 2,008 new season tickets for the 2008 football season. UH
will play host to six home games on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium this year, and ticket packages are on sale now for as low as $95.
With new head coach Kevin Sumlin in place, director of athletics DaveMaggard says the Cougars are ready put up big numbers‹even when it comes toticket sales.
"This season ticket initiative is extremely important," Maggard said. "It is another step we need to take as we continue building the foundation needed for University of Houston Athletics to regain its place as a nationally-recognized program."
The 2008 season kicks off on August 30, against Southern University at 6 p.m. The Cougars also face Air Force on Sept. 13 at 2:30, UAB on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. and close out the home schedule with three-straight games againstTulane (Nov. 8), Tulsa (Nov. 15) and UTEP (Nov. 22) with those three contests scheduled for 4 p.m. kickoffs.
"I hope the Cougar faithful, as well as the Houston community, are as excited about the upcoming season as I am," Sumlin said. "We appreciate all of the people currently supporting us and we encourage the addition of new supporters. The '2,008 in 2008 Campaign' will expand our fan base and help us achieve even more success in the years to come."
The Cougars, 8-5 (6-2 Conference USA) a year ago, are coming off their fourth bowl appearance in the past five seasons.
